Outfit of the Day: Hello, Sweetie

Item one: for the love of mercy, someone teach me how to take pictures. All I hear is “use natural light!” but as you can see…I CANNOT TAKE A PICTURE THAT MAKES ME LOOK LIKE A DECENT HUMAN. So…yes.

I was in a big hurry, so scrunched waves it was for the day. Everything else I just sort of grabbed. I had a yellow belt to match my headband, but the stupid thing has a broken clasp, so my sister let me borrow her beloved Doctor Who belt (with a seatbelt buckle clasp!). I put it on and she stared at me for a minute before going “OH MY GOD YOU’RE RIVER SONG.”

So there we are.

Outfit of the Day: I Dress Like a Kindergartener and a Grandma at the Same Time

I have a really bad habit of dressing like crap. Like, I just…I don’t know. It’s almost the end of the school year and I’ve practically given up on life. So I’m using this blog to motivate myself. Effective? Hopefully. I want to look nice. And look my age. But unfortunately, this is definitely not a look for a grown up. Dammit. I need to work on that.

You’d think that combining saddle shoes and a dress Rachel Berry wore on the first season of Glee would be a good indicator that I’m not dressing my age…

…wait are you serious. I made more money than you at my shitty summer job at a university lab which was basically washing glassware and holding things for people. $10 per hour. How. Why. AGH.

IT. SUCKS. SO. MUCH.

In each pay period I:

-tutor (10 hours)

-work the afterschool care program (13 hours)

-assist the music teacher (6 hours)

-teach my theater arts class (10 hours)

-work in the library (10 hours)

This comes out to 53 hours of work per pay period.

So yeah, a bit less than $5 an hour.

This does not include rehearsals, which is between 6 and 9 additional hours per week (or 12 to 18 hours per pay period). I am not paid for directing, as it is assumed to be part of my theatre arts class. Oh, and that doesn’t include the Saturday rehearsals.

If I added in the rehearsal time to include hours I actually work, I would make about $4 an hour.

Raurgh.

If you can find it, it is worth checking out the Les Miserables 25th anniversary concert live at the O2 arena! What is your favourite Les Mis song?Mine are Lovely Ladies and Master of the House.

Ahhhh! I have the 10th anniversary DVD, but I haven’t seen the 25th.

My favorite song is “On My Own,” for sentimental reasons (short version: it’s the moment that 13-year-old me decided to study theatre), but I really adore “Confrontation,” “Do You Hear the People Sing?” and Cosette’s opening solo in “In My Life.” And also the beginning of “At the End of the Day;” it’s so driving and passionate.

The only song that I know of in Matilda is ‘Miracle’ and it goes on for like, ten minutes. From what I’ve heard about it in the West End,it’s meant to be really good.

IT IS IT IS IT ISSSSS.

My three favorite songs are “Naughty,” “When I Grow Up,” and “Quiet.” But I also love the Bruce song and the Telly song.

Also, when my kids don’t listen to me, I sing the “MY MUMMY SAYS I’M A MIRACLE” part as loud as I can until they get quiet.

oh my lord I’m proctoring SAT tests and I have to drink a ton of water because I have to read so much stuff but now I really have to pee and I don’t get another break for an hour please pray for my bladder.
