About Me

I’m Caitlin, and I’m finally coming through the other side of my quarter-life crisis. I live in Florida with my spoiled little cats, Hiccup Horrendous Haddock IV and Astrid Cagney Hofferson. I had the privilege of working at the Great Movie Ride in Disney’s Hollywood Studios for four years and was part of the closing team, so you might have seen me as a tour guide, Mugsi Toccata, or Kate Durango. I’m now currently a guide at Kilimanjaro Safaris. When I’m not driving around in circles pointing at four different kinds of antelopes, I’m often found performing in local theatrical productions. or spending time with my giant boyfriend. Favorite things include the smell of dryer sheets, marathons of canceled TV shows, and rainy days (as long as I’m indoors at home).

Eleven years ago (yikes) I wrote a book that never saw the light of day, and I haven’t written much original work since. Today I won NaNoWriMo for the first time ever! Last fall I had nine days to costume a production of Spring Awakening. I took a couple of days off from work and pulled, altered, and built as fast I could. I ended up making seven dresses, two sets of a Victorian underwear, and a flower crown. Oh, and did mention I was also in tech week for The Mystery of Edwin Drood at the same time? So I am really excited and grateful that I’ve been nominated for costume design for a non professional musical for the Broadway World regional awards!! If you’d like to vote, please vote, because I ended up super proud of this show!! Also a special shoutout to Corrinna for being my eyes when I couldn’t be at rehearsal, Cathy for distressing, and Sam, Robin, and Molly for helping me so much during the nine craziest days of my life. ❤️❤️❤️

I may be taking a wee break from theatre, but y’all know me, I don’t know how to not be busy. This month I’m participating in National Novel Writing Month! I might have told some of y’all (only partially joking) that my dream has always been to become the American J.K. Rowling; some of y’all might even be some sweet friends who’ve stuck around since my fanfiction days. But I haven’t written in years- really, it’s been almost eleven years since I completed my first novel and shoved it in a drawer, never to see the light of day again. This year I’m trying. I wrote an outline, I filled in my #preptober2019 workbook religiously (lots of thanks to @nataliaaleigh for creating it!!) and I’ve made sure to take the time to write. I’m five days in, and this morning I broke 10,000 words. Is it perfect? No. Am I having a great time writing for the first time in years? Absolutely. I’ve even joined authortube and started making daily videos, and started posting on tumblr again. Tonight ended our run of Evil Dead and my last night as this sweet little pun-screaming, blood spitting cellar gremlin. I am so lucky that I got to spend the past few months working on this show with so many amazing and talented people and I got to revisit my favorite role of all time.
