About Me

I’m Caitlin, and I’m finally coming through the other side of my quarter-life crisis. I live in Florida with my spoiled little cats, Hiccup Horrendous Haddock IV and Astrid Cagney Hofferson. I had the privilege of working at the Great Movie Ride in Disney’s Hollywood Studios for four years and was part of the closing team, so you might have seen me as a tour guide, Mugsi Toccata, or Kate Durango. I’m now currently a guide at Kilimanjaro Safaris. When I’m not driving around in circles pointing at four different kinds of antelopes, I’m often found performing in local theatrical productions. or spending time with my giant boyfriend. Favorite things include the smell of dryer sheets, marathons of canceled TV shows, and rainy days (as long as I’m indoors at home).

Help Me Buy a Camera!

One does not simply walk into Joann’s with a shopping list. You just go and Joann will tell you what to buy. (I didn’t get all of this today though, a lot of it is from my stash. But it’s definitely time to do some sewing.)

It’s just dawned on me that I haven’t mentioned the projects I’ve been working on! This May I am costuming the absolutely incredible cast of Shakespeare’s Terminator the Second. Everyone involved is incredibly talented and professional and I hope I do them justice! And in early July, not only am I costuming A Chorus Line for Celebration Theatre Company, but I am also achieving a lifelong dream of playing a cut dancer in the opening number! I’m glad to be onstage with CTC for the first time since Heathers. Hopefully soon I can post about my projects for Halloween and next spring! #comewithusifyouwanttofringe #ctcochorusline

Yesterday has sent my brain in a spiral of thoughts but other people have summed up my thoughts more eloquently, so here’s a picture of sixteen-year-old Caitlin, a very serious bookworm visiting places she thought she could only visit in books. (I looked through all my France visit photos and I didn’t smile in a single one because I was so focused on soaking everything up)

It’s a World Theatre Day!! Theatre has been a part of my life since I was three years old; I took a long break and thought I would never do it again, but I found homes and friends in the Orlando theatre community. I’ve worked on eighteen shows in the past three years as an actor, a costumer, and a director, and I have at least five more coming up in 2019. Even when I try to take a break, theatre finds me! #worldtheatreday

Dapper Day is next month and @poisonapplecosplay is coming to visit!! Time for my traditional endless debate about what I’m going to make. (Will I follow my tradition of waiting till the last minute and picking something completely different and random? Probably!)

Hey! March is Automimmune Disease Awareness Month! A year ago this month I asked my doctor if we could test my thyroid- a lot of my symptoms seemed like they could be linked to thyroid problems and it hadn’t been tested before so I felt like it couldn’t hurt. Two days later I got a call that my medication was waiting for me at the pharmacy and I needed to start taking it immediately. Turns out I have hypothyroidism and Hashimoto’s disease. For the longest time I though everything I was experiencing was normal- I was exhausted all the time because my job was super physical and I was working on two or three shows at once, my hair was falling out from stress, I was gaining weight because of bad eating (and more stress), I couldn’t remember lines and choreography because I was tired (and even more stress). The past year has been a cycle of bloodwork, medication adjustments, and lifestyle changes, but things are finally starting to level out. I got tested because of a YouTube video (thank you, @kathryn_morgan) and if you think that something may be wrong, don’t be afraid to ask your doctor!

I ran the princess 5k last week with my sister; it was her first race ever and she did great (and we went to Trails End after for her first visit). The most emotional part though was when a cast member on the course said that “(my) hair had grown back nicely!” I know it was just themeing because I was dressed as Rapunzel, but my hair is just now starting grow again (I haven’t gotten a haircut in three years because it just wouldn’t grow and it kept falling out) so it was just a really nice moment. #disneyprincess5k2019
